Abstract

Senior High School Darul Ulum Muncar is one of the institutions at the Manbaul Ulum Banyuwangi Foundation which is engaged in education which was founded in 1955 with the slogan "Excellent Achievement with Islamic Insight". There are 3 major programs provided by Senior High School Darul Ulum Muncar for its students, namely Science, Social Sciences and Religion. After completing their education in school, students who want to continue their education in higher education are often faced with the problem of choosing a faculty. Choosing a faculty in a university is the main thing in this study because currently many students are graduates of Senior High School (MA) and the equivalent who are not serious in studying due to lack of knowledge about the faculty they choose at the university. By choosing the right faculty, students will not only study but he will be serious in understanding about the faculty he chooses. In choosing this faculty is influenced by interest and motivation. So that from this study the researchers raised the problem of identifying interests and motivationson students majoring in social studies in choosing a college of economics faculty. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. The next stage, the research was analyzed by triangulation technique. The emergence of students' interest and motivation in choosing a faculty at a university is caused by internal and external factors that have a major influence on students in the final decision of the faculty he chooses
